Mens and Womens Centres

Council supports the provision of services to the community through the Women’s Centre, the Men’s Centre and the Youth Centre (Baja Baja). Other agencies such as the Justice Group and Apunipima run many of the comunity programs at these centres. 
 

Women's Centre 

While we are without a formal Art Centre, the Women’s Centre is being used by artists for creative arts including painting, weaving, cooking, sewing and stencilling. 

Opening Hours: 8.00am - 4.30pm Monday –Thursday and Friday 8.00am - 12.00noon. 

Men's Centre 

Men's programs are run by the Justice Group and Apunapima every Wednesday 5.00pm - 8.00pm  

Combined Men's & Women Empowerment Sessions are also held every Thursday 6pm - 9pm at the Men's Centre.

Baja Baja Youth Centre 

Programs at the south centre are run by several agencies including the Justice Group, Apunipima, Cooktown District Community Centre (CDCC), Gungarde, Jabalbina 

Play Group are run on Tuesdays and a Youth Development Music Program is run on 

Wednesday’s: 2.00pm - 4pm
