Planned Drone Survey at Wujal Wujal – Wednesday 11 November
Wujal Wujal Aboriginal Shire Council advises residents that drone survey activities will take place on Wednesday 11 November 2026 as part of planning for future water infrastructure and the proposed Effluent Wetlands Project.
Water Technology, working on behalf of Council, will undertake an aerial survey to collect important information about the local landscape, existing infrastructure and potential locations for new water pipelines and services.
The survey will also support planning and investigations for the proposed wetlands area.
What can residents expect? The drone survey is scheduled to take place during the morning of Wednesday 11 November, with activities expected to take approximately two hours. Additional survey work may be undertaken on Thursday 12 November if required.
During the survey, residents may notice:
- A small photographic drone flying at heights between approximately 30 and 120 metres.
- Drone activity around the riverbank and surrounding project areas.
- A low buzzing sound while the drone is operating.
- Two survey personnel wearing high-visibility clothing working near the survey area.
The drone will be used to capture aerial images and surface-level information to help identify existing features and inform future infrastructure planning.
Safety and community awareness The survey will be undertaken by two personnel, including a drone pilot and a supporting observer, with appropriate safety procedures in place.
Council is providing advance notice so residents are aware of the planned activity and understand why a drone may be operating in the area.
The survey forms part of Council’s ongoing work to investigate and plan infrastructure improvements that support the future needs of the Wujal Wujal community.
