Wujal Wujal Aboriginal Shire Council invites community members to participate in the upcoming Higher Places Exercise, an important opportunity to practise emergency procedures and strengthen our community’s preparedness and resilience.
Living in Far North Queensland means being ready for severe weather and other emergencies. Knowing what to do, where to go and how to respond when warnings are issued can make a significant difference in keeping ourselves, our families and our community safe.
The Higher Places Exercise will provide residents with an opportunity to become familiar with local emergency arrangements, including the sounding of the emergency siren, designated zone check-in procedures and the distribution of emergency preparedness supplies.
Why Participate? Emergency preparedness is a shared responsibility. Taking part in exercises like Higher Places helps residents better understand emergency procedures, builds confidence and supports a coordinated community response when it matters most.
Council encourages all community members to come along, take part in the exercise and enjoy the activities afterwards.
Together, we can build a safer, stronger and more resilient Wujal Wujal.
